Labor Day Hike

We took the boys on a hike that we have done one time before but it is fairly close to the house and not a hard walk.  It goes along the river and then to a cave that you can walk into and you come out the other side onto the river bluff.  The boys had a good time and it was a good opportunity to teach them a lot of cool things.  Caden did great following the blue blazes and telling us which way to go.
Walking on the trail and teaching the boys about different things we encountered.  We saw this box turtle eating on a cactus, we saw some different kinds of bugs, and we saw a pretty long snake (that luckily I saw after I had passed it and then learned that my foot was only inches from it). It wasn't venomous but a snake is a snake to me!
The last two pictures are of the cave.  The one is Jason at the opening of the cave while he was going ahead of us to check it out.  The boys had their flashlights and were ready to go....no Fear!  The last picture is the opening of the cave from the other end on the River Bluff side.  It was a really good day.

What a fun hike! Although I'm with you on the snakes. And I'm glad there were no bears hiding out in that cave. :-)

The pictures are so beautiful. You just don't get to see that kind of scenery when you go on a hike here in Florida! You guys are so lucky :)
