They have had this exhibit every year and it is free! It is the cutest idea. Upon entering the boys get their apron and basket.
The first stop is to get a bag of corn that they will use throughout their "day" on the farm.
The next stop is to feed the chickens some of the corn and gather their eggs. They are supposed to gather ONE egg and I think Blake ended up with THREE :) They then go and pick apples off the tree. Each year we have had to remind them that they aren't real apples, but Blake still has to test it for himself by trying to bite it. (no picture of the apple trees)
Then they get a turn to sit on a BIG John Deere tractor. I think they try and push every button they can:)
The next stop is to plant their vegetables. They have an area of "soil" and seeds and they are to bury the seeds and "water" them. They then move to the next bin where the vegetables are ready to be harvested and put in their basket.
They then move on and have to feed the cow some corn and milk the cow. They have water that comes out of the cows utters. The boys had this down and didn't have to be shown what to do this year:). Before leaving this room they put a small carton of milk in their basket. At this point they should have an egg, apple, vegetables, and milk in their basket. Now it is time to head to the Farmer's Market!
At the Farmer's Market they "sale" their goods. This is where they put the produce where it goes and return their basket. On the way out they are given a "dollar"!!
They then get to take their dollar to the General store and "buy" something. They are given a choice of animal crackers, milk (white or chocolate), ice cream sandwich, or an apple. Every year Caden has chosen the apple. This year Blake chose Chocolate milk (I think he did the ice cream sandwich last year).
Lots of fun and such a great learning experience for them!!
