A Favorite

Jason and I found this place that we love to go if we get a chance.  It is a grocery store in a small town near us that also serves food.  On the weekends they have people come in and sing and charge a cover.  On Thursday nights, however, they have Open Mike night and there isn't a cover charge and, better yet, it is Shrimp Boil night!!!  They have a special where you can get a small bowl of gumbo, shrimp, new potatoes, and corn......Mmmmmmm!  We cannot go all that often since it is a little bit of a drive and then to get a sitter, etc. We were able to go last night since Jason's mom was in town and offered to watch the boys for us so we could go.  Luckily for us we have actually been able to go twice this year already thanks to a recent visit by my mom too!  The guy that owns the store is from Louisianna so this weekend they are celebrating Mardi Gras and had crawfish and crab legs in addition to the shrimp.  I stuck with the shrimp, but Jason got the crab legs....It was all good!  Dessert last night was a chocolate lava cake and blackberry cobbler!  It is such a nice place and very friendly people.  It literally is a small grocery store and they have a bar area and 12

15 tables.....better get there early for a seat:) 

Open Mike night is where anyone can come out and sing or play an instrument.  There is a lot of talent around the area.  This family playing in the picture has been there every time we have been.  It is a dad and his two sons...I think they are 12 and 14....but that 12 year old sure can play!!  The last time we went there was a group there that has just relocated from Louisianna and they were amazing....I cannot wait to go back and hear them when they get off their tour.  So, if you ever come up to visit us and you are here for a Thursday night this would be a place we would love to show you.
