Well, I decided to enter Blake's photo into a contest....called the Redheaded Sweetheart contest. A photographer in Tallahassee was hosting this and I happened upon it on FB. When I had Blake and he came out and they said "oh he has red hair"....I must confess my thoughts (ok I think I actually said it) were just give him a bath, he just needs a bath and it will not be red. Growing up as a red head wasn't easy. You stand out, get picked on, never blend in, burn easy, etc, etc. I have come to appreciate my red hair but wasn't so sure about a little red headed boy. Let me just tell you.....I LOVE his red hair. If you ask him he says it is "orange".....so he does know his colors:) I have even had people ask me "where did he get that red hair from?" UMMMM well, not sure how to answer that. I guess mine has darkened over the years, but I still feel it should be pretty obvious. There aren't many days that go by that someone doesn't comment on his hair color......like I said you stand out and do not blend in.
All, that to be said I really liked that there was a contest for just little red heads. I do not normally enter in these kinds of photo contests (cutest baby, etc) due to the large # of entries and yes while I think they are the cutest baby's others may not agree. Wish us luck on this one. If Blake doesn't win maybe it will go to my friend Beth's little boy Caleb (it was her FB page that I saw the contest). The deadline for entering is Feb 22nd so I will let you know if we win (or if we need votes).

I love red hair. I sometimes wish that I had red hair. And he is an adorable red head. If there is voting involved, be sure to let me know because I would definitely vote for him!
As I was reading this, I was thinking "ya me too, I entered Caleb, how funny" - then I read the part about you seeing it on my Facebook page - ha ha. I'm so glad you entered him. We love our redheads!! Have you heard anything? I haven't..... BTW, I love reading your blog!
