Time away

The little boys and I were able to escape for a few days to NC since they have a day off of school.  We made the drive to NC to visit my parents and it fell at the same time that Jason's parents were ending a week at the mountains.  Jason's mom didn't know we were coming so we surprised her on Thursday morning and spent the day with them and spent part of the day on Friday with them. 

I wasn't so sure how the trip here was going to go because getting out of town wasn't as easy as I planned.  To begin on Tuesday we took Caden to the doctor to find out he had strep throat.  I am thankful we discovered it before leaving town but it did mean that he would be home with me as I tried to finish packing on Wedn morning.  I took Blake to school and we planned to leave around 1.  That would have worked but of course we forgot Caden's lovee at home so we had to go back home after getting Blake to get it and then I realized that the DVD players weren't working.  I wanted the boys to sleep so I decided to just put on their music CD's and go and hope they would fall asleep and I would figure out the DVD player later.  Caden was asleep in no time and Blake eventually gave it up too.  I never did get the dual DVD player to work but I had brought the single portable one that we had so they could watch movies at the cabin....I was able to get it propped on the console so they could watch that the last leg of the trip.  We did the 6 hour trip in a little over 7 hours!! 

The weather has been nice and the leaves are just amazing!! 

It hasn't been the perfect time away however.....
I mentioned Caden was sick and we got him on antibiotics.  Well, Blake woke up on Friday morning early and also was sick (thankfully the dr knew we were going out of town and had given me a RX for him in case).  Well....that was manageable....UNTIL.....Saturday morning (early in the morning) all the adults came down with a stomach bug (me, my mom, and my dad)!!  So 3 adults all feeling horrid and 2 very active little boys ready to GO!!  Luckily my mom wasn't as bad and was able to get the boys out that morning and by that afternoon I could sit upright and get outside to watch them while she rested.  We all survived!!  It is Sunday now and we are all on the mend and luckily today was beautiful too.  We did miss a festival I had hoped to go to but oh well!  I hope that doesn't happen again! 

We have missed daddy this trip but he had to work and focus on some other things this weekend so we will look forward to coming again with him later!! You can look at the album I started with some of the pictures and I will add more when the trip is over.
