SNOW! and ICE!

Such different experiences than growing up in FL! We knew we had a winter storm coming but I really didn't know how to take this since the last big snow forecast we had a few weeks ago didn't produce much snow. We had very cold weather for days and days and flurries that time.

School was cancelled on Friday and I probably wasn't very wise to head out to the mall but when I left there was absolutely nothing going on. Well about 30 minutes after leaving it started. We got to the mall and it was really snowing.  The mall ended up closing early (there were not a lot of people there at all). It took us an hour and a half to get home when it should have taken at most 30 minutes (we drove 20 most of the way). Luckily the boys slept.

We got home and everyone was ready to play! Jason has been telling Caden that if it snowed we would sled down the BIG hill (a historic Civil War Battle site). We layered everyone up (man that is an ordeal) and off we went. By this time the snow was turning to sleet so you had to stand with your back to it or it hurt if it hit you in the face. The boys loved sledding!! There were lots of others sledding too....some had blow-up rafts, cardboard boxes covered in garbage bags, knee boards, etc.

To me the prettiest thing of all is to look outside when it is dark and the snow covering everything just glows!! BEAUTIFUL!

Through the night the snow turned to sleet and a layer of ice covered everything. We weren't able to build a snow man because the snow was so hard but it didn't stop the boys from playing and sleding! We have had a great day just hanging out. Not much choice...don't think we could get out of the drive. We may attempt it in the morning for church though ( I really have my doubts we will be able to). Luckily this time I did go to the store in advance and had enough groceries and diapers to last us.

There are too many pictures for this post so you can go to our album and enoy them if you like. Maybe we will have more to add tomorrow after more play time! After that I am sure I will be ready for it to all go away. It is one thing to be stuck at home with daddy here, but when he is able to return to work I really would rather not be stuck here :)

I HATE the cold. But I do admit that snow really is beautiful. Sleding sounds like so much fun. I know my kids would love it. That picture of you and Jason is terrific!
