True Meaning!

We have a book about Jesus' birthday that I like to read to the boys.  It is a little angel telling the story of Jesus' birthday and at the end it has a little shephard boy who is sad because he showed up at the stable without a gift.  His dad tells him that he can give baby Jesus a hug....it further tells that the best gift we can give Jesus is our love.  We explained to the boys that this is the real reason that we get and give gifts on Christmas.  We love them and so we get them gifts to show them our love....just like the wise men loved Jesus and brought Him gifts.  We also want them to understand the importance of giving so we had them pick something out for each other and for grandparents (something very small but still with the thought of someone else).

The boys actually did a good job shopping for each other.  I want to continue doing this each year.  We still need work on the giving concept!  Blake needs more practice at keeping secrets and Caden needs to work on not manipulating:)

My mom and I took Blake and we found out that Caden had coached him on what to get (as well as some threats/bribes).  Blake - "If I don't get what Caden wants he will not give me nothing." Me - "Really, is that what Caden said?" Blake - "Yep" Me - "What did Caden tell you to get?" Blake - "I don't remember." Blake picked something out and it was obivious he was thinking of Caden in what he picked....he kept saying "I hope Caden will like it."

We let them open their gifts from each other on Christmas Eve.  The hit....whoopie coushins!!  Yes, we could have spent $2 on them for the "tooty things" and they would have been happy:)

That is so funny about Caden! Dallin does the same thing to Mandy to get the things that he wants. But how sweet that Blake really thought hard about picking out the gift. They are both so cute.
