New to them....

We have been looking for a while now for "new" bikes for the boys on Craig's List or consignment etc.  Caden has his first bike that he got when he was 4 and we had a bike the same size for Blake.  Where we live now we ride bikes a lot.  Luckily our neighbors had a bike that was a little bigger that wasn't being used and Caden has been using it. (Thank you guys soooo much!!!) That meant that Blake moved to using Caden's old bike even though it was the same size as the one he had been using it was in better shape and when he learned to ride without training wheels that is the one he wanted to ride.

We had wanted to wait for their birthdays but the need was there and now that we have the bigger bikes (especially Blake's) I feel really bad that he had to ride that small one for so long....it was like a tricycle ;) I really thought just because of age and his endurance he was just slower when we would go on our family rides, but now I know it was the bike.  He LOVES to go for rides now and is so happy at how fast he can go.  He now tells me that his knees used to hit the handle bars on the old one :(

Jason found one of the bikes on Craig's list and it still had the tags on it... it had only been ridden twice! A great deal!!  The other one had more use to it but still is in great condition and can be cleaned up some to look even better.  Caden's is a little big for him and it is hard for him to get started on his own all the time but once on it he is fine and does great.  So these are part of their "early" birthday presents I guess, but I am so glad we are able to use them and enjoy them now!

The day after we got them we went on a trail that we have ridden with the boys before and Blake was always whiny about half way and didn't want to finish....this time he did great... he didn't have to work so hard :) Caden did great too but he was always pretty fast on it anyway.

After we finished riding on the trail we rode by the pond and  went to the playground and I spotted something in the water.... we had kept our eyes out while on the trail in the canals but didn't see any.... do you see it??

Do you see it now???  It is just a small gator!!  Blake was very interested. I am totally okay with it too as long as it is in the water and I am far enough away on the land!

They look so big on those bikes! Will is still riding his little bike, too--he has a bigger one he got for Christmas but it's a LOT bigger than his current bike and he's scared to make the jump. I hope he does soon--he is definitely in the same situation Blake was in, where he has to pedal so much to go any distance and his knees are almost hitting the bars.
