So on Day 3 Jason and I were lucky enough to escape and go white water rafting. Before I say more about it I have to say THANK YOU THANK YOU to my mom for agreeing to watch the boys and to my brother for hanging out with them too!!
My family used to go white water rafting every year at Labor day and I have lots of great memories from that! Jason and I have gone together when we were in college too, but it had been almost 10 years since we had been! On a whim we mentioned "we should go white water rafting" and then we knew we couldn't let this trip go by without trying to make it happen. I am so glad it worked out for us to do it! It was great to have the time together doing something that you cannot do with little ones. Of course both of us the whole time kept saying how much the boys would love to see this river and the white water and how we cannot wait until they are old enough to go!
There were two larger groups and I assumed when they were splitting them up we would just complete a boat since there were just 2 of us. Wrong! We had our own boat and guide! This did make me a little nervous because I knew he would be a little more daring and I knew Jason would be up for anything! Even though I have been rafting many times I still get nervous. I have never fallen out of the boat and I am perfectly happy with that (knock on wood!). Our boat was to be the rescue boat for our outfitters which means we go first and pull off to the side and our guide gets out with a rescue rope. What this says to me is that if one of us falls out we are just out of luck!! ;) Okay, not really because there are so many outfitters someone will save you! We actually only had to rescue people from one boat and they weren't even from our outfitter.
All in all it was a great day! When we got to the take out I was so wanting to go back and see if they had openings for us to go again the next trip of the day. We did get the CD of pictures that they sucker you into. This rapid where they took the pictures, Jason was "riding the bull".... as you will see you sit on the nose of the boat and hold on tight and just ride. Yes, I ended up doing it too!! I didn't want to but both of the boys (Jason and our guide) didn't really give me a choice. Actually, it was fun!!! I would do it again.
So, sorry that many of the pictures seem the same but we paid for them so I just made an album with all of them in it. If you are looking for a good outfitters to go rafting with on the Ocoee river I recommend Raft One!
