Charleston Bound

So our first weekend without kids we fit in a one night escape.  I didn't know where we were going (even though I had a couple of options I figured were highly likely).  I have never been to Charleston SC and it is not a bad drive for us so that was our destination.  We got there on Friday evening and walked around a bit and had dinner. If I were a better blogger and kept better notes I would remember where we ate but I don't :( It wasn't bad but not necessarily repeat worthy either.  After we ate we walked around a bit more and luckily we had gone by the car and grabbed the umbrella because it started pouring!!  It could have been pretty romantic walking the city with my man under an umbrella, arm in arm, but the rain was more than a drizzle, it was many many many blocks and I had on flip flops that were my feet would not stay on because they were wet!

The next day we had breakfast and headed out for a walking tour of the historic area.  It was a 2 hour walking tour and was packed with information.  The historic part of Charleston is so much bigger than Savannah and there is so much history.  This tour did focus a lot on the architecture of the area.  Our guide was great! Even though I cannot remember his name either (Jason could tell me if anyone is interested) I would recommend him:)

The rest of our pictures can be seen in the album on Shutterfly.

We ended our time in Charleston touring the H. L. Hunley.  I wasn't that familiar with it but I am now:) It was a submarine used in the Civil War and it sank 3 times and it was the first to successfully take down and enemy vessel.  They found the submarine and are now preserving it.  Jason loves this kind of thing.  I enjoyed it too, but I am usually done looking and reading in 1/4 of the time it takes him:)

That was our little getaway.  It was a combination trip really because it was Jason's birthday weekend and the next week was our wedding anniversary. Thank you Jason for surprising me and letting us escape for the night.
