When I started posting on Stone Mountain I created a Shutterfly album for the rest of our time there and life happened and I never got back to finishing it and posting it.... oops. So much to update on now. I cannot believe that was the beginning of the summer and we are fast approaching our halfway point!
Back to Stone Mountain.... We spent Memorial Day there in the park and the crowd wasn't bad and we fit a lot in. The first time we went with both of the boys Caden really wanted to do the high ropes course and he was a couple of inches too short. This year both of the boys were tall enough. That was our first stop and I am SO proud of them for doing it. I must say I get pretty nervous on it and it isn't even as high as it could be and you are totally not going to fall to the ground (you are harnessed) but my palms get all sweaty anyway and I have a tight grip to my cable. Blake would often say to himself as he walked one of the ropes, "steady, steady...". Only at one point did either of the boys get scared and start to cry and want to quit. I totally understand though! It was a pretty tough on and they had seen an emergency exit and really wanted to just go down the steps. They didn't though... they both finished strong!!!
Then there was the train ride, the 4-D movie, lunch, playing in the water, the Great Barn, the sky lift.... We were tired!
I have never hiked to the top and I really wanted that to be something we did this year. We didn't think the boys would make it (without lots of whining at least) so Mimi and Papa let Jason and I hike up and they rode up the sky lift with the boys. It was a tough hike but fun. I liked the challenge. It was very windy at the top of the mountain! We met up with Mimi and Papa and the boys and after some looking around we headed back down on the sky lift.
The next day was time to head home. The boys were actually heading back to FL to visit both grandparents and Jason and I back to GA for some down time (even though Jason had to work) we planned to celebrate our anniversary and his birthday during that time. As well as many "to do's"!! The boys were on their way with Mimi and Papa and Jason and I decided to go hike the mountain again.... why not??? I was missing my workout at the gym so it would be a good substitute. It was just as hard the second time and we were pushing ourselves to see if we could make it up faster than the fist time:) I would do this hike often if I lived closer!
That was our time at Stone Mountain! I put all the pics in one album that you can view if you like:)
