Life is what happens!

Ever heard the saying "Life is what happens when you are making plans"....well that is what happened to us this past week. I had it all worked out. My mom was here to help me with the boys so that we could get packed and ready to go to the beach. We were going to leave on Wedn evening and drive to Montgomery to break up the trip so that we could get to the beach early enough on Thursday to have some time to enjoy the day. Well, things were going great until Caden starting running a temp on Tuesday night. Didn't really think much of it and figured it would pass, but on Wedn his temp was up to 104.2. Figured it must be an ear infection (he had no other symptoms or complaints) so off to the Dr we went just to make sure before leaving town. Well, they swabbed him and told me he had the flu. WHAT!! Both of the boys had their vaccine and I thought flu season was over. I wasn't freaking thinking it was Swine flu or anything, but this did cross my mind. The truth is I would have rathered strep or a 24 hour bug or something because then I would know a little more what to expect. I had no idea what to expect with this and not to mention....we are leaving for vacation and will be around others. ( why is it kids always get sick before going out of town??) After much discussion and stressing and discussing and stressing. We decided to head south and see how things progressed. The doctor had said that if he was without fever for 24 hours then we would be okay to be around others. I was so worried about getting someone else sick. The bad thing was I had been looking forward to this trip for a year and I couldn't just decide to stay in TN. Long story short we ended up getting to the beach a day late. We stayed in Montgomery as planned and then at my parents house on Thursday night. Caden didn't run temp again after Thursday morning so off to the beach we headed on Friday. I have awesome friends who didn't just tell us to stay away:) The trip went well and I still wonder if the flu swab could be wrong??
