I must say we are very fortunate and thankful to have a house that is higher and not by a creek or river! The flooding around here was unreal and we didn't even experience it like they did just 20 miles and 30 miles north of us. We have had days of rain before but nothing like this obviously. Since Monday the sun has been shining and it is heartbreaking to watch people gut their homes...pulling carpet and matresses out. Many flooded here on Saturday afernoon and throughout the night the waters rescended and then around noon on Sunday it started again and in no time the water was higher than the day before. We couldn't have gotten more than a few miles from our home on Sunday....access to the interstate was flooded and the other road out was flooded in many spots. Thank you to those of you who have called and e-mailed to see if we were okay!! Please continue to pray for all those affected!

This is of a small rocky creek or stream that may or may not have a little bit of water in it on a normal day and it was so full and rushing so fast. It completely covered the road and fence....not sure where the cows that are normally in this field are?
One road behind our house is this mailbox...whithin an hour we couldn't get to this point due to water covering the road from the creek....they said that the water got up inside the actual mailbox.
As close as we could get to the interstate access and the water continued all the way past the overpass.
A car that must have tried to go through the water when it was covering the road...this was taken after the water had gone down from Saturday and the rain was starting again on Sunday (we were on our way home from church). It flooded again on Sunday but we couldn't even get to this point of the road.
You know one thing that obviously kept coming to mind was Noah and the Ark...much like many others who posted jokes and comments on FB about it. But what is totally awesome to me is the promise that God made to never flood the entire earth again......that is so cool that he promised that and there is no doubting it. Sometimes we promise things we know we could never fulfill and sometimes we unknowingly break a promise....BUT God's promise is forever and 100% reliable! Can you imagine what it was like for Noah....it had NEVER rained before, people couldn't comprehend what rain was much less flooding. To have that kind of obedience and faith....that is what I pray for....but yet would I be willing to stand firm if everyone doubted me and laughed at me?? Something to think about.

That really is CRAZY! I'm glad it didn't make it into your home though. I feel for all of those who are having to deal with the damage now. We have been and will continue to pray for them.
