I decided to buy some Christmas cookie cutters and let the girls help me and Caden and Blake decorate sugar cookies. When I say the girls I am referring to Emma and Lilly our neighbors who I watch every afternoon until their parents get home. The girls were excited about it and Caden and Blake enjoyed it too. I let them pick and cut out the cookies and then they played while they cooked and cooled. Caden was more interested in the sprinkles but didn't understand to get the sprinkles to stick you had to use the icing. He of course chose "red". After fixing the cookie the way he wanted it he proceeded to eat the undecorated one....guess that is fine since it meant less sugar. Blake didn't decorate one but was very happy to be up on a stool and a part of the action. This is probably the extent of creativity I will get with them unless something strikes me another day. I would love to do more crafty projects with Caden, but Blake is right there in the way and then Caden gets mad at him. I then get frustrated because it isn't going like I hoped....I have learned to relinquish a lot of expectations as a mother of toddlers. Not to mention I feel I am forever cleaning up so to do a project generally entails even more cleaning up. With the lovely TN winter though I am sure I will be searching for age appropriate activities for both of the boys that can be done inside:)

That looks like so much fun! I haven't done any cookie decorating with my kids yet, but I'm hoping to in the next week or so. I know exactly what you mean about trying to do crafts with toddlers. It can be pretty difficult and frustrating. But just wait, once they get to be Dallin's age (5), it becomes SO much fun to do crafty things with them.
I love your blog! You are so real...no sugar coating anything (no pun intended ;) My mom is headed up to NC with your mom. That's a scary combination LOL!
