Traditions
We had a very nice experience tonight with a family I have met in our playgroup. Actually I have met three sister in laws and it was there family. The three brothers and there wives and the brothers parents all moved here from California about 3 years ago. I have been going to a playgroup with the sister in laws and they invited our family to one of there family traditions. They get together every year and have a Birthday party for Jesus. The kids all played and then they read them the Christmas story from a picture book and they all sang happy birthday to Jesus and then had cake. Then the adults read the Christmas Story from the Bible and everyone got a birhday candle and the first person started by lighting there candle and saying what they are thankful for or what Jesus has done for them, etc and then they would light the next persons candle and blow there's out and so on. It was a really neat experience and one I may steal for the future. I was a little nervous to go to another persons family without even knowing the girls all that well, but it went really well. I am thankful that Jason agreed to go because he had not met any of them. Just when I am ready to run away from TN I see that we can make our place here. It takes time and it takes some not so comfortable experiences but in the long run it should be worth it. By sticking with the playgroup I am learning more about these girls because I wouldn't have guessed there family would have a tradition like this. They have really welcomed me and gone out of there way and that has taught me a lot.

That is a neat tradition! I have really been enjoying your blog, and I can identify with the difficulty of trying to find your niche in a new place (although I can't say much about the toddler stuff!) Enjoy your Christmas!
What a great tradition! I might have to steal it too. I'm really glad that you are finding new friends there to help you adjust to a new place. That is wonderful.
