Jason and I were turned on to auctions by a friend in North Carolina. We have been twice to one held weekly there but have never actually bought anything. Well, here in Spring Hill there are a lot of auctions and I attended my first one here today. A local flooring store had gone bankrupt and they were auctioning what was there....floor rugs, laminate, tile....all the way to the artificial plants and the "open" sign. Well, I have been wanting a rug for our living room so decided to go and see what it was like. It could be addicting I tell you!! I bid on one I liked the most, it was larger, but I chickened out when it got to $125 even though the rug was probably worth $1000. The next time I got the courage to bid I also chickened out. I really needed someone with me to encourage me to stick it out. So finally I bid on one and didn't have much competition (not sure if that says something about the rug...maybe) and the bid stopped at $45....and I was the winner!! The price tag on the rug was $425...so I feel I got a good deal. It wasn't my favorite but it was fun and makes a good story. Next time I will have to be more bold. I will have to wait until I am making some money before I can really let this be a past time.
I have to thank Jason for entertaining the boys while I experienced the auction. They ran around outside and he really tired them out for a very long Saturday afternoon nap :)

Hey! Good job on the auction, and just wanted to say I love the new blog design! :-)
How fun! I have never been to an auction. Maybe I need to try it. The rug looks beautiful in your living room. I love the wood floors!
